Example Statement of Purpose Teacher
Example Statement of Purpose Teacher The genesis of my intense interest in education, an interest which has now evolved into an aspiration and a pursuit for a career in the field, happened during my undergraduate studies, while I was a student of humanities. Eventually became the primary motivation for graduate and now for further Studies in Education Language, Culture Teaching at YORK University. My desire of further study in Education is derived from the need of our people and their welfare. Since 2003, once I completed my MSc in Psychology choose the profession of teaching as a career. I started teaching in a secondary school where I was able to help students in their studies of psychology related subjects. I use to meet the students parents and try to find out how to make a healthy relationship between students and parents. As I believe on continuous learning when ever there is as opportunity either to learn new strategies or any sort of teachers training found my self engaged in it. It always fascinated me to help people to improve their Education standards, life style and facilitate them by provision of my expert opinion and guidance for them through my education and experience. I strongly believe that MEd Education is exactly the sort of qualification required though which improvement of the Education standard of communities through education can be achieved. It is also an effective tool to promote the awareness about fundamental issues, and facilitate research to find different methods of teaching. Public Education Essay -- Education Reform
Public education in the United States is perhaps one of the most critical issues we face as a nation. Once pronouncing the United States as a ââ¬Å"nation at riskâ⬠, the educational institution began to implement one reform strategy after another. In efforts to improve schooling for K-12 students, education reform has fiddled with class size, revised graduation requirements, and created standardized testing just to name a few. Unfortunately, traditional public schools are still failing to provide students with a quality education. This is disheartening as we learn that the United States lags behind in math and science compared to our international counterparts. It is safe to say that educational reform has spent billions of dollars over the years in an honest effort to reform education in American; however, most reform decisions have produced little changes. Among the many radical education reform strategies implemented, charter schools are perhaps one of the most prominent. It has been roughly twenty years since several states opened a number of charter schools. The best way to describe charter schools is to say they are independent public schools of choice that are free from rules and regulations compared to traditional public schools. Charter schools are accountable for producing results; otherwise, they are subject to closing due to failing performance. There are more than 5,400 charter schools serving more than 1.7 million children across the country (Center for Education Reform, 2010). Currently, 40 states and the District of Columbia have charter school with 41 laws in place and only 13 have strong laws. The states with the strong laws, 65 percent show positive achievement gains (Center for Education Reform, 2010). These stati... ...ountry could benefit from the presence of charter schools. Although traditional public schooling is in trouble, they are not lost. With thousands of students on waiting list for charter school enrollment and a thousand more who will not attend a school of choice speaks to the need for charter schools. Conventional public schools need to move beyond the mandates of a bureaucratic system in order to experience real revitalization. Perhaps Andy Smarick has the right idea instead of trying to fix failing schools close them and start fresh (2010). Perhaps it is unrealistic to believe with the number of failing schools across this country we could replace them with new schools, but it is clear that something has to be done to ensure a quality education exist for all students. In the meantime, why not give charter schools a chance to educate those who they can serve.

Risks and Effects of West Nile Virus Essay -- Biology Medical Biomedic
Risks and Effects of West Nile Virus West Nile Virus has many effects on the human body as well as on the bodies of other animals. West Nile is an extremely dangerous virus that attacks the Central Nervous System. It can cause inflammation of tissues in and around the brain and spinal cord. In humans, there are three levels of West Nile Virus, which have different symptoms. Humans can also get specific diseases such as encephalitis from West Nile Virus. West Nile Virus also affects animals. Wild birds and horses are the most susceptible to the virus and most animal deaths occur in these species. Dogs and cats are much less likely to contract the disease. The only way for a human or animal to get the disease is to be bitten by a mosquito infected with West Nile Virus. The effects of West Nile Virus vary among different people. The risks of getting West Nile Virus are very small, but there are certain things that you should be careful of. People over age 50 and children are most likely to contract West Nile Virus, because their immune system is not capable of coping with the disease. Every time that you go outside you are in danger of getting West Nile Virus. It is best to stay away from mosquitoes and stagnant water. Although there are risks, there are also some things you donââ¬â¢t have to worry about. Blood donations are all checked for the virus and the likelihood of getting the disease from a blood transfusion or organ transplant is very small. Nursing and pregnancies also do not increase risk of contracting the virus. It has not yet been proven, but it is thought that the possibility of a mother transmitting the virus to the fetus through breast feeding is not probable. (CDC, 2005). There are three different levels of symptom... ...s, more lives may be lost to the virus. For this reason it is extremely important that a vaccine and a treatment are found for west Nile so that in the future death or permanent brain or spinal damage can be prevented. Humor in Assemblywomen by Aristophanes :: Assemblywomen Aristophanes Essays
Humor in Assemblywomen by Aristophanes Assemblywomen, by Aristophanes, posits a system in which the institution for the transfer of wealth within a patrimonial line is subverted by a system that closely resembles the ordering of a Greek household. In Assemblywomen, the women take power and redesign the social mechanisms. Although the Assemblywomen radically change some elements of the Greek social institution, such as private property and sexual limitation, the women remain, although in an expanded form, within the structure of a household. Male dominance is tempered but gender roles are reinforced. The institution of the household in Assemblywomen is expanded into the body politic but its fundamental nature does not change. In contrast, Oeconomicus offers a more conventional conception of the Athenian household. Ischomachos, for his own edification, presents to Socrates an idealized version of his household. Ischomachos, in his effort to impress Socrates with the skill and talents of his young wife, gives a clear account of the Athenian social norms surrounding the household. This text is useful in understanding Assemblywomen because it offers the social ideal that, to varying degrees, Aristophanes perverts. Indeed, Assemblywomen adheres to many of the ideals of the household put forth by Oeconomicus. Aristophanes does not depart completely from the conventional conception of a household but rather parodies the system by locating it in the larger context of the polis. There are a few fundamental similarities between Aristophanesââ¬â¢ Assemblywomen and the more conventional Oeconomicus. First, despite the female entrance into public society, there remains a strong division of labor. The men and women do not work together, but remain separate factions with gender specific tasks and duties. This separations of labor is also found in Oeconomicus when Ischomachos proclaims that, ââ¬Å"it is a finer thing for a women to stay indoors than to spend time in the open, while it is more disgraceful for a man to stay indoors than to concern himself with outdoor thingsâ⬠(33,IV). Women are expected to do the tasks associated with the interior of the household. In Assemblywomen, after the women take control of the polis, they do not assume the civic duties once carried out by the men but rather try ââ¬Å"remodeling it into one big householdâ⬠(730). Definition Essay on Redneck
Redneck You might be a redneck if you have ever mowed the lawn and found a car. We have all heard this famous phrase, along with many more, from the comedian Jeff Foxworthy. But what does being a redneck really mean? Many southern people have been stereotyped as rednecks because of their accents, slang and lack of formal communication ability. But it takes more than just the way a person talks to make them a redneck, like attitude and appearance. The term ââ¬Å"redneckâ⬠began being widely used after the hippie era when men started cutting there long hair short enough to burn their necks.A white member of the southern rural laboring class is how a knowledgeable person has officially defined ââ¬Å"redneckâ⬠. Yes, they are from rural areas and are from a working class of people, though it does take more than language and accent to classify someone as a redneck. A redneck will wear shorts and boots for the comfort not because it is a fashion statement. Itââ¬â¢s someone th at would rather go mudding or four wheeling on a weekend, rather than going for a dinner and a movie.Thoughts of getting dirty doesnââ¬â¢t send them running for the nearest bathroom where they can clean themselves up. Rednecks are not afraid of backbreaking manual labor, but after work they are going to blow off steam all night. They will generally get an hour or twoââ¬â¢s worth of sleep before returning to work to sweat out the alcohol from the night before. Rednecks are very proud to be Americans, they generally chew tobacco, and hunting and fishing is a big part of who they are. Rednecks are generally big fans of football and could tell you every driver in a Nascar race.Gucci, Macyââ¬â¢s, and malls, are not places that you will see a redneck shopping. Just go to your local Wal-Mart and you will surely see many there doing there one stop shopping. Where else can you buy hunting supplies, guns and ammo, fishing gear, food, clothing, and electronics all in one store? Pictur e this, a full moon high in the sky, with more stars shining than a person could count in a month. A vibrantly green field outlined with trees, with a creek running across the back. A dirt road along the outside edge of he field leading to the back corner where there are four wheel drive trucks backed up to a red glowing bonfire that was built with what was found along the creek bank. The trucks look as if they have been dipped like an ice cream cone, but only in mud. Coolers filled with beer are closely positioned around the people that are sitting on the tailgates and standing around the fire. ââ¬ËSomething Bout a Truck,ââ¬â¢ blasting from a stereo that cost more than the truck cost before the big mud tires were put on.Without a worry or a care in the world this party will continue until the wee hours of the morning. This is a true example of what a redneck is. A simple, every day, hard working person who could care less what this weekââ¬â¢s fashion statement is. They are who they are, and if you donââ¬â¢t like it, they donââ¬â¢t care. They are a laid back partying group that are just out to blow off steam and have some fun. Many people say that being called a redneck is a bad thing, but rednecks are proud of who they and for them it an honor.

What I hope to expect out of life in 10 years
I the blink of an eye times passes so quickly and we are left wondering what happened where has the time gone, it fears us knowing how easily it is for life to change in the blink of an eye . I have reached the stage in my life that I just want happiness and good health for myself and my familyâ⬠¦ Sometimes we don't know what's round the corner and life can so cruel.Thinking of life in ten years time can be scary I can think of two different paths; my dream path and my probably the path that will happen in the real world. In 10 year time I will be a few months of 50 and that's an achievement in itself. Hopefully in 10 years my diabetic health has stayed stable and my non cancerous tumour has remained non cancerousâ⬠¦.. Hopefully that time bomb within me hasn't went off.Firstly my dream path for 10 years time would be that to have fast tracked education, college and uni and perhaps be doing my dream job in life and that would be working as a baby nurse, helping little sick bab ies, whilst also raring my 4 beautiful children, the two eldest ones imagine will have flown the nest, maybe I will be a grandmother, and that will be the most beautiful gift of all. Whilst my 2 younger boys I imagine and hope that they will be 2 handsome teenagers and I am sure bringing plenty of teenage worrie to my door.
About Myself
Nuclear Power is produced when a nucleus absorbs a neutron and splits into two lighter nuclei. This releases enormous amounts of energy which in turn produces heat. In fact the Uranium, which is the most common element used to produce nuclear power today, has an energy content about 3 million times greater than that of fossil fuel. Consequently 1 gram of Uranium is equivalent to approximately 3 tones of coal. Nuclear reactors harness the heat which is produced from the energy released when the atom splits and convert it into electrical energy. Current Nuclear Power plants require the the use of the rare Uranium isotope U-235 and consequently only use one fifth of the total energy content. Next generation reactors forecast to be available in 2020's will use all the energy in Uranium or the more abundant Thorium. Nuclear reactors produce vast amounts of radioactive waste including large amounts of very long lived radioactive atoms. These radioactive particles are a product of the splitting of the atom. We are constantly exposed to low-level radioactivity from cosmic rays from outer space and naturally occurring radioactive isotopes which in general do not cause any harm. However at high levels of exposure there are numerous biological effects of radiation. These cause cell death, cancer induction and can cause genetic damage. The waste of nuclear reactors is highly radioactive and long lived, and as a consequence must be isolated from humans for around 100,000 years. The current consensus is that Nuclear Waste should be disposed in secure containers and placed deep underground. Future technology promises to turn the long lived radioactive particles into shorter lived atoms.
